Brazilian fruits: Grumixama

Brazil is a very rich country in flora and fauna, but even Brazilian people don’t know it very well. If you follow our blog, you know that we are getting to know some native Brazilian fruits! This is the last fruit we are going to talk about.

The grumixama is also know as the Brazilian cherry, not only because of how it looks but also because of it’s flavour. This fruits name comes from the tupi guarani language and it means “get’s the tongue”, they gave it this name because this little fruit has a half acid half sweet flavor and that makes it unique and delicious.

It’s tree is 15 meters tall and it’s native from the atlantic forest. It’s flowers are white and have an amazing smell.

This fruit is little know and not studied that much, but people say that it is rich in antioxidants and vitamins C. It can be used as a cough syrup, you just have to mix it’s skin with honey and it’s done!
